I popped into my local cafe early this morning to buy my traditional egg & sausage sandwich, and a bacon sandwich. Whilst waiting, the lady asked if I would like to take part in the Grand National sweepstake. I paid my pound and picked Oscar Time out of the hat. It came in second – I think the prize for 2nd place is £5, that paid for my sandwiches 🙂

Just before the race, I had a sudden urge to have a bet, so I had a £1 each way on Don’t push it who came in fourth. I won £3.50. Unfortunately, I also bet on Majestic Concorde, who was right up front until he unseated his rider at the 24th. Overall, I lost £1.50.

Sadly, the day was marred by the death of Dooneys Gate and Ornais.
